Martha Hincapié Charry

studied Dance in her native Colombia, Argentina and Cuba. She graduated in DanceTheatre, SoloDance and Media at the Folkwang Hochschule Essen, Germany under the guidance of Pina Bausch.

As a dancer she has worked for Wuppertal Dance Theatre, Münster State Theatre, Schauspielhaus Bochum, Aachen Theatre as well as for independent productions.

Her choreographic work has been invited to Festivals in France, Croatia, Italy, The Netherlands, Colombia and Germany.

Together with the actor and dramaturg Jan Viethen, she founded the Colombian-German group PERIFERIC.

Martha has been awarded with several prizes and scholarships. Periferic´s piece “Autorretrato con Máscara - Self Portrait with Mask'' won the Audience Prize at the Festival 100° in Berlin in 2009 and was selected as one of the 4 best pieces of the season 2009 of the theatre R101 in Bogotá, Colombia. This piece was also nominated for the Colombian National Dance Prize 2010.

Since 2008 she works as assistant choreographer in Community Dance projects for Josef Eder, Royston Maldoom, and Rhys Martin, with the Berliner Philarmoniker, National Theatre in Bucarest, Rumania and in Berlin, with the project TanzZeit – Dance in Schools.
